Watercolor is a perfect medium to paint portraiture and skin tones. In this 3-day workshop students will learn to see and to draw the head and facial features, and will experiment with watercolor techniques such as wet on wet, wet on dry, and dry on dry using a range of colors that convey light and shadow.  Using step-by-step demonstrations, with purposeful instruction, and individual assistance, JJ will model and explain his process of creating a sensitive portrait by creative uses of values, colors, and edges. Personal attention will be given to each student according to his/her current skill level and personal goals.   We will break for lunch daily for an hour from approximately 12:30 to 1:30.

Day one: Cover some basics about portrait painting, and use a photo reference for the 1st exercise with step-by-step demo

Day two: Paint from live model (female) with use of step-by-step demo

Day three: Paint from live model (male) with use of step-by-step demo; culminate workshop with brief critique
