1 Day Workshop

Maximum 12 students

This class focuses on ways to take your favorite landscape photo(s) and create a beautiful studio painting. The class will start with Tim covering some basic concepts like how to develop a composition using photo references to how to transfer that design/photo easily and accurately to your canvas, even if you have very little drawing experience. This will be followed by a step by step demo where he discusses his process as the painting progresses. The class will explore various ways to use the image(s) as a resource to create from, rather than just to copy from. He will talk about integral components that help to create a painting, like: composition, blocking in, developing strong light and shadow patterns, values, value shapes, form, atmospheric perspective, brush work and color/color temperature etc.
Tim's "Simplicity to Complexity" approach will have an immediate effect on the way you see and approach your paintings. He will teach you how to see simply and how to simplify and breakdown the most complex subjects in order to create a stronger foundation to build your paintings upon. The techniques and information you learn will improve your painting abilities no matter the subject you prefer/choose. He combines traditional, contemporary and abstract approaches to his workshops.
Tim is a North Carolina native who brings over 20 years of experience as a painter to his workshops and classes. His ability for translating complex painting principles/concepts into simple easy to understand instructions will help you create more dynamic paintings of your favorite subjects.
